30 weeks!
We recently had our 2 day express birthing class. It was jam packed with information and we had a great time! I’m very thankful for all the reading I have been doing as I felt like the class was a refresher for all that I have been learning. On top of reinforcing my knowledge on labor and delivery, we actually got practical experience as well as numerous questions answered. Our instructor was wonderful. Rob and I are really feeling prepared and continue to get more and more excited as our due date draws near!
With little Baby Brecken’s arrival slated for September 6th, Rob and I have been busily preparing our birthing plan along with researching all the things we need. We really enjoyed learning the various birthing positions and practicing breathing and relaxation techniques. Our plan is to do this naturally and not use medication. At class we practiced positions using the birthing ball, lunges, squats and more. Although you can never be 100% ready and you’ll never know what to completely expect, I do feel like we are emotionally, physically and mentally prepared for the big day!
We still have much to do in terms of picking out all the baby gear and getting the house ready. Our big focus has been on researching and selecting a few key items. First, we want the best jogging stroller since we plan on using it all the time. There are numerous brands, options and bells and whistles. It’s a little overwhelming, but we continue to ask others who have kids and read online. So, if anyone has some experience and advice here, please do share! Our next focus is the bike tow behind. Here again, there are numerous brands, models and features and we are in the midst of finding the best children’s bicycle trailer. So again, if anyone has experience, kindly share! We also are looking into the car seat, bassinet, booster/feeding chair, types of bottles and the list goes on and on. We have selected the baby furniture and a really cool high chair, but there is much more to do!
I keep thinking, “Oh, I’ll do this when I slow down.” But I haven’t really been slowing down! I really have been feeling good. The bike riding on the bike path has been pure delight and we are in the busiest time of year for EFC, so I am just going to have to put our “to dos” for Baby Brecken right into the calendar or she’ll be here and we won’t be ready!
A little over 2 more months and we can’t wait!
