Coach Kel and Coach Rob have really helped me improve my running form!  Not only did they show me how to run more efficiently, but they also video taped my old running form with dialog and demonstrations on what exactly I was doing that was slowing me down.  After demonstrating the proper form, Coach Kel and Rob filmed me running again and showed a side by side comparison of my before and after shots.  This totally helped me visualize what I needed to do to become more efficient.  Not only am I running with a more relaxed form, but I’m going FASTER!!! Thanks Coach Kel and Rob!  I will always hear you in the back of my head...."Relax and GO FASTER”

At first I was skeptical about doing the run clinic.  I felt that I knew a lot about running since my strength and background were in running.  However, I was shocked that many of the major components of the clinic were pretty much the opposite of what I learned in high school.  I’ll have to be honest, it has been hard implementing them into my workouts since what has been ingrained in me over numerous years tends to still dominate.  For example, rather than dropping my arms to relax as I am accustomed, I now focus on reducing the elbow angle, yet still relaxing my shoulders and upper body, in order to provide forward propulsion with my arms.

With time, perseverance, and further collaboration with Coach Kelly and Rob, I hope to see even further gains in my running.

Talk about a wake up call! As a newbie to the world of multisports and with a very shy but stubborn personality, I had concentrated my efforts in workouts plans to those in written form. As you might imagine; terms and ‘lingo’ sometimes were just a garble and most of the time I would end up...ahem...set back. For some of us it takes that face to face discussion and personal attention to get things right. I surely got that at the EFC Clinics!

Attending the clinics with Coach Kelly and Coach Rob not only gave me a better insight on where I stood as an athlete but an experience that surpassed my expectations.
Careful attention to detail, clear instructions on form, biomechanics, efficiency and immediate feedback on areas of improvement. At the clinics you “see” and learn the proper form, you practice with them and then you can “feel” the modification in “real time”, with them to guide you.  Above all, they have a sincere dedication to the sport and to each individual who reaches out to them for advice. That alone is worth more than words can express.

My personal improvements after the clinics: Form: I don’t look as much as a snake or gecko wiggling in the water and have better power transfer from the lats instead of the shoulders.
Improved efficiency: I dropped my running pace from 9:45 to an average of 8:35 to 8:45; arms tight, core movement, shorter strides and leaning “from the ankles” you know! As a bonus...with Coach Kelly’s voice in my head..."drop and push”...I was able to complete my first Sprint Tri with a joyful heart, running pace PR and...ahem...top 20 of my category!

These clinics were a chance of a lifetime and valuable gains in knowledge, experience, improvements and of course a few good laughs! Thanks Coach Kelly and Coach Rob! God bless!
