Share your thoughts on your EFC weekend experience

Hello EFC Athletes and Friends

We hope you are having a great week and we hope you can get outside and enjoy this amazing, warm and sunny weather!! Spring is welcomed for sure!

We have really enjoyed the past 15 days, although super busy with 15 people at our home Feb 27th and 28th and then meeting up with and/or working with over 30 people in Chicago between Friday and Sunday- March 5th-7th. It’s been awesome to catch up with so many great friends and help set up so many people for success this triathlon season!

We’d love to hear from you! How was your bike fit with Coach Bob? How was your swim session with Coach Kel? How was your FT assessment? How about your cycling session? Please share your key take-a-ways as you were filled with knowledge and power to improve!

By sharing your thoughts, you can help others get stronger, faster and prevent injury!

Thanks for all you do!

Remember to "Train Smart and Enjoy Your Ride!"

Though I was personally not getting fit, I was amazed at the level of detail Bob considered with each athlete. I was also very much interested in seeing the aspects of exercise science (specifically biomechanics) actually being applied to a practical situation! Because I am not much of a cyclist, I did not realize just how simple changes in joint angles could improve efficiency and power output on the bike! I am definitely going to be saving up for a fitting before making a bike purchase of my own!

Bob also worked with Coach Kel in assessing muscular imbalances/weakness that could be corrected with exercise. In addition, I also assisted Coach Kel with FT assessments. It was a great tool for each athlete to get an idea of where their physical weakness lie, so that they can resistance train properly and avoid injury while training. It was also beneficial to see just how much some of the athletes have improved in their muscular stability and flexibility since they began training with EFC!

As I mentioned, I am not much of a cyclist, but the workout was easy to tailor to my cycling fitness level. I felt that I got in a fantastic workout and did not feel pressured into pushing my body to a point that it was not ready for. As monotonous as indoor cycling may seem, I thought it was actually fun because of the encouraging atmosphere being given off from the EFC coaches and athletes! I’m definitely going to be giving those workout clothes two laundry cycles!
wink

I may be a runner now, but I have a feeling that title may change after TRIing more with EFC!!

When the offer came about, I was looking forward to get a bike fit with Bob Duncan.  I already own a tri bike, but I’ve never been able entirely comfortable with my fit.
It began with Bob and Cody getting some numbers from me--height, weight (approx.), limb lengths, etc.  Then I got on the Veritas bike for the the rest of the fit.  They were very consciencious about my fit, focused.  I was more than willing to have them merely instruct and order me about where I should be in my fit, but at the end, they were interested in my feedback, which seemed to be considered sincerely.
In the end, I was not told that I needed a new bike, which I feared.  Instead Bob and Cody made all the needed adjustments on site.
Good experience.

Hey everyone...I hope you get some time to post.  I’de like to hear how your experiences were as well.

The most important thing I gained from the weekend was being able to see and collaborate in person, specifically about my bike technique as well as limitations due to some muscular imbalances.  It provided Coach Kelly and I with a better understanding of what key areas I can be working on this season.  Since I’m still fairly new to triathlons, there is a lot I can work on.  However, the weekend allowed us to pinpoint the most important areas needing improvement.

I don’t know how the food was in Chicago, but it was excellent in Toledo.  It’s not often that you can be a guest at someone’s house and not have to worry whether or not you are eating someone else’s portion.

I’ve been fit several times on road bikes and tri bikes over the years but Bob’s fit process was unique.  He incorporates technology, measurable feedback from a Computrainer and something other fitters often omit - feedback from the rider.  Many get hung up on the “right” angles or the latest fitting fad.  Bob has old-school intuition which really helps separate the hype from what’s necessary to get a good fit.

At 6’4”, I’m not easy to fit on any standard bike and we certainly confirmed that.  Even with a reasonable starting point, it took quite a few adjustments to come up with a position that felt good to me, and looked good to Bob and Cody.  They have a genuine interest and enthusiasm for getting things right - they don’t watch the clock.

I’m looking forward to having a bike made to my new aero specs this year!

Bob was great!  Now I can shop for a bike and be totally confident in what I’m getting is going to fit me!  Finding the right bike is like finding the right running shoe.  When you find something that fits, you never want to wear/ride anything else.  I’ve been in NB 850 series for 10 years and I’ll never change.  Now that I’m properly fitted I can’t wait to ride my new bike, when I find it!  Thanks Bob!

New to the sport of triathlons, I wasn’t sure if I should spring for the bike fit. Kel encouraged me to take advantage of it and I’m glad I listened. Bob and Cody were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They took time to explain what they were doing as they were fitting me. Bob would not give up until he was totally comfortable with my fit and when he eventually settled with my specs, he assured me that he would give me another complimentary fit once I got a bike and started riding to tweak it slightly. Now I can relax when shopping for bikes as I already have my specs and know what will work for me!
